Original Tire size

Original Equipment tires, also known as OEM tires or OE tires, are the tires that come equipped on a new vehicle at the time of purchase. The vehicle manufacturer selects these for optimized performance based on the characteristics of the vehicle.
Dunlop has been selected for original equipment fitments for a variety of popular manufacturers like Lexus, Audi, BMW, Honda, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen. As you browse through our site, keep an eye out for the “Original Equipment” icon that indicates tires that were selected as the OE tires for your vehicle.
Always designed with both performance and style in mind, Dunlop OE tires make an unforgettable impression. See our most popular original equipment tire fitments below:
REPLACING ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES
Dunlop offers many tire lines to provide a great tire for almost every application. Also, every Dunlop tire must exceed federal and strict internal performance test standards. Check below to see how Dunlop tires provide quality performance characteristics in the vital areas of handling, traction (grip), and endurance/speed. Experts at Tire & Service Network locations proudly stock Dunlop tires and can assist in selecting the proper tires to enhance your vehicle's performance.
Handling
Certain Dunlop tires are engineered with wider treads and lower aspect ratios to improve vehicles' handling capabilities. Specific benefits are:
- Tires take advantage of suspension systems engineered to keep the tire upright in corners, and straight-ahead when going over uneven road surfaces.
- A wider tread provides a larger contact patch (or tire footprint), which affects starting, accelerating, maneuvering, and stopping. This is why tire performance is critical to vehicle handling and safety, as vehicles do everything through their tire footprint.
Traction
Dunlop's tire tread patterns and compounds are engineered for a variety of traction requirements such as: high-performance cornering; grip in wet weather; all-weather traction; and mud, snow, and ice handling characteristics.
Endurance/Speed
Dunlop tires have been designed to match the improved speed and handling capabilities of new cars, particularly performance models. Vehicle's top speeds have greatly increased with improved engine efficiency designed to meet emission regulations, fuel-economy standards, and customer demand for performance. Our high-performance and ultra-high-performance tires are engineered to work with sophisticated suspensions to deliver improved handling and traction at high speeds. Just be wary of downgrading speed-rated tires with replacement tires that don't match the vehicle's performance capabilities, as tire performance, like handling response and durability, can be affected.
Check Tire Diameter
To ensure that the tires you install on your vehicle will not greatly alter the speedometer or odometer readings, check the Original Equipment tire's outside diameter. Then verify that the outside diameter of the replacement tire is within 3%. Dunlop experts at Tire & Service Network locations can assist you in figuring this out.
Calculate your metric or P-metric tire's diameter by using its size through these instructions:
- Find the section width and aspect ratio molded into the sidewall.
- The section height (SH) of a tire is the section width multiplied by the aspect ratio.
- The overall diameter (OD) includes two section heights converted to inches, plus one rim diameter.
